What is HTML5?
HTML5 is the latest version of HTML which has several new features which its previous version HTML 4.0 did not have.
The mark-up language was quite simple when it was originally drafted in 1991 where it had only 18 HTML tags.
As web programming evolved, it was necessary to ramp up the specification.
HTML4 specification was announced in December 1997 and later revised in April 1998 and December 1999.
Tim-Berners Lee, a British Scientist is called the father of the web. He first invented HTML which has become part of the life today.
HTML Is not a full-fledged programing language.
Basic Construct of a programing language is operators(+,-,*),if else, loops etc.
How Did HTML5 evolve?
HTML was developed by the W3C until 2004, when members of the HTML working group grew disturbed with the direction the W3C was going with HTML. They felt that the W3C was not paying enough attention to the real-world development needs of the language and focusing too much on XML and XHTML. So they formed a new group called WHATWG (Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group) devoted to evolving the Web. They started by working on a new specification of HTML - HTML5.
But later it was merged. Now HTML5 is a cooperation between the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG).
